Everything you need to know to create your perfect skincare routine

We know the world of skincare is vast, with so many options, that it can be overwhelming, so we're sharing this guide with all the steps you need to create your perfect routine for your skin type.
The first recommendation is to always apply your skincare based on the texture, from lightest to heaviest, going from lightest to heaviest. This will ensure product absorption and effectiveness.
There's no magic number of products for a perfect routine; the key is consistency and investing time in finding high-quality, irritant-free products. A good routine can consist of three or four products, depending on the time and patience you're willing to dedicate.
This is the order we suggest for creating your perfect skincare routine:
We explain them to you in more detail.
1. Cleaner
The first step is to start with a blank canvas, like any work of art. This will allow your skin to be free of makeup and dirt and will aid in the absorption of products.
There are cleansers for every skin type, from balms to foaming cleansers. Choose based on yours and don't limit yourself! Double cleansing is very common in K-beauty ;)

2. Treatment
This step is optional for acne-prone skin, to treat breakouts on a timely basis. Your best bet is salicylic acid, which you can find in patches, serums, and drying lotions like Mario Badescu's Famous Drying Lotion.

3. Tonic
This step will help remove impurities from your skin that the cleanser can't, giving it a boost of hydration. There are already toners on the market for specific needs, such as treating acne, reducing wrinkles, brightening skin, etc. Toners also act as exfoliants and help better prepare the skin for the products that follow, improving their effectiveness.

4. Facial essence
The essence is entirely Korean-invented, and they added it to their routines as the first step in hydration, using formulas that feature water as the main ingredient. Its texture allows it to absorb quickly into the skin and improve the penetration of other products in the routine.

5. Serum
A serum is generally a liquid or gel containing high concentrations of skin-loving active ingredients, which can penetrate deeper than other topical treatments. There are many serums on the market, depending on the treatment you're trying to achieve.
When choosing a serum, we recommend choosing the one that's ideal for your skin type, as this step will ensure results with consistent use. For example, niacinamide is a great active ingredient for wrinkles, fine lines, and dark spots; hyaluronic acid helps with dry and dull skin; and vitamin C is key for brightening, illuminating, and evening out skin tone.

6. Moisturizer
Cream could be considered the most popular step; many people already apply cream to their face but are unaware of its properties or needs. We would call it the "finishing touch" of your routine, and what makes it so important is that it perfectly integrates the products previously applied.
There's a world of active ingredients in moisturizers, as well as textures. There's something for every skin type and shape, from the lightest to the thickest.

7. Oil / Eye Contour.
This step is optional but highly recommended. Oils create a moisture barrier on the skin and restore elasticity. It's essential if you have dry skin.
Eye contour is a treatment that helps improve the appearance of dark circles and fine lines. Ingredients like caffeine help awaken the area and vitamin C brighten dark circles and correct skin tone.

8. Sunscreen
This step is a must during the day; it prevents blemishes and skin dehydration. Additionally, there may be ingredients from your previous routine that require sunscreen to work. This should always be the final step in your morning routine to ensure you're fully protected and achieve the best results.

After age 25, our bodies produce 1.5% of their collagen, so it's never too late to start taking care of our skin. Time and age are key factors, so starting a light, preventative routine at age 18 would be incredibly beneficial for your face. In the long run, keeping your skin hydrated will help reduce fine lines and give your skin a healthier appearance.
9. Tools and accessories
Once you've covered all the steps in your skincare routine, we highly recommend completing it with accessories and tools designed to make your life easier and improve the absorption of products into your skin.
From headbands that keep hair out of your face when you remove your makeup, to wristbands that absorb water so it doesn't run down your arms when you rinse your face, to sleep masks, 100% mulberry silk pillowcases, gua sha, rollers, and much more.
